3-on-2 + 2 – From Advantage to Disadvantage Drill

The 3-on-2 + 2 – From Advantage to Disadvantage Drill is a high-level transition drill that begins with a 3-on-2 fast break and immediately shifts into a 3-on-4 defensive situation. It challenges players to capitalize quickly on numerical advantages, then recover and communicate effectively when outnumbered. This drill is ideal for developing both sides of the transition game: quick reads in offense, and resilience and rotations in defense.

Initial arrangement and description 3-on-2 + 2 – From Advantage to Disadvantage Drill

You placed the 4 defenders along the extension of free kick.
The Coach (C) is placed between the header and central circle.
The 3 attackers are placed in the bottom line of the half court, where it starts the exercise.

Before starting the exercise, the Trainer will articulate what the two defenders must go to touch the bottom line and what are the other 2 defenders will have to balance defensive in numerical inferiority.
We will be able to recreate the following game situations:

Pass to the center, and touch bottom-line two more defenders close to the receiver

The Coach passes the ball to one of the 3 attackers located in bottom-line and the advocates who said that they were going to play the bottom line and the other 2 are in charge of making up the balance defensive

NOTE: this exercise also works Regulation. A lot of attention to the standard of the field behind (Art.30 – ‘the Ball is returned to back track’).

Variants

  • To resolve the situation of the game in a certain number of passes.
  • To resolve the situation of the game without using the boat.
  • Bring the ball to a particular location before the end.
  • Vary the degree of advantage-disadvantage, being able to go from 3×1+3 3×3+1.
  • The coach did not give any guideline and are the advocates that are organized.
  • The defenders are going to step on (or touch) the bottom line may try to steal (and thus practice the famous ‘passed by here’ Sito Alonso).
  • Previously can be made in advance of the Exercise 3×1 – 5 seconds or the Exercise 3×1 – Counterattack to be making a progression prior.
  • Finally, exercise can work with other degrees of opposition, 2×1+2 and 4×3+2 (and its subsequent variations of inequality numeric).
