Hybrid Drill 1-on-0 to 1-on-1 – Mirror

This progressive drill, Hybrid Drill 1-on-0 to 1-on-1 – Mirror, begins with an unopposed (1×0) move and transitions into a live 1×1. The “mirror” concept forces players to adapt instantly from execution to competition, developing situational awareness and off-the-dribble attack.

Note: you can convert in 1×1 to the order of ‘it’s Game!’ the coach. The one who replied will defend his basket closer.

Initial layout and description

exercise, exercise, basketball, 1x1, 1c1

All players with a ball. They are grouped players in pairs and are placed face-to-face (each one on one side of the half court).
One of the two players takes the initiative and makes displacements by combining and alternating changes of hand and changes of direction. The other player will reflect as if it were a mirror of everything that makes the player with the initiative. After 30 seconds, there will be change of roles.

Note: the player who takes the initiative should be aware of your pace of execution so that your partner makes of mirror you will be able to follow.

Hybrid Drill 1-on-0 to 1-on-1 – Mirror

In the case of the hybrid mode of the exercise, first, we’ll do the part of the 1×0 described above and then to the order of ‘it’s Game!’ the coach, you will play a 1×1 in which the player who had the initiative will be the attacker and the player that made of mirror will be the defender. We can modulate the difficulty of the 1×1 making the player defender pot or not. In either case, incidiremos in:

  • Placement in a Basic Position to a Defensive defender on the line attacker-ring.
  • The denial of the change of hand asking for the placement of the hand farthest from the ball.

At the end of the 1×1, it will start the exercise with the corresponding change of roles and re-start with the 1×0 initial.

Variants

  • In the 1×0:
    • Dribble with one hand.
    • Bounce to a specific height (or vary)
  • In the 1×1:
    • The attacker must get to launch from a certain location (triple, within the triple and/or out of the area, within the area, corner, etc…).
    • The attacker needs to resolve a given number of boats (adjust depending on whether it performs on the court in whole or half court).
