Blind pass

technique, pass, blind

The blind pass is based in part on the motor pattern of the hook. The main difference is that you get to flex the arm and the ball ends up happening behind the head. It also looks a lot like the no look pass since that is decoupled from the look of the final target of the pass.

Objectives for teaching

icon, ok
  1. Locate the target.
  2. Maintain a balanced stance.
  3. Give the last pot strong.
  4. Catch the ball with one hand.
  5. Give the pass with the ball sticking out of the side of the head.
  6. Push the ball with the flexion of the elbow.
  7. End with the fingers facing towards the target and the palm facing down.

Most common errors

icon, fail, error
  1. Do not locate the target.
  2. Lose your balance
  3. Gives the last pot too loose and the ball is not ‘up’.
  4. Does not catch the ball or catch it with two hands.
  5. The ball comes out from a different height than the head.
  6. Do not use the flexion of the elbow and the ball does not come out with force and it is the short pass.
  7. It ends with the palm facing up and/or with the fingers facing towards another direction than the target’s.

Fundamental to the prior teaching of the hook to bind concepts since there is some transfer between the flue hook and the blind pass.
