Initial layout and description of the 1-on-1 – Reassigned Matchups Drill

In each pair there is an attacker with the ball and a defender. The defender will be placed back to the attacker, looking in the direction of the basket that has to defend.

The attacker with the ball, it will be placed in the bottom line.
There will be other couples doing the exercise (2, 3, 4 or even 5).
When the defenders are all placed. The attackers will change their positions. The coach will give a visual signal to the attackers, and these will come to pass. At that time, the defenders will hear the balls bouncing and know that the exercise has begun. Each defender will have to turn and look to your partner to defend and prevent the basket.

At the end of the round, change the roles.

Safety note: it is recommended to start the exercise from the 2×2 and not to go beyond the 5×5.

Variants

  • The beginning of the year marks an attacking player designated in secret by the coach.
  • The defenders start in the extension of free-Kick from one of the two half courts.
  • There can be one or several attackers that do not have the ball. there will be situations of the game more real.

Note: All variants are supported.
