The 1-on-1 Backboard Rebound Drill is designed to develop rebounding instincts and competitive mentality in one-on-one matchups. This drill starts with a live shot—either player may grab the rebound—promoting aggressive positioning, timing for the ball, and immediate transition into offense or defense. It focuses on shot tracking, boxing out, and quick reactions after a miss, making it ideal for teaching hustle and fundamental rebounding technique.

Initial layout and description of the 1-on-1 – Backboard Rebound Drill
Is distributed to each partner in a basket.
The player with the ball in the bottom line and the attacker in the free kick/elbow. The player with the ball passes the ball to that found in the free kick/elbow and at the same time that it is going out to defend him. The round ends when the attacker has set or when the defender has recovered the ball (before or after the release of the attacker).
Variants
- You have to solve in a given number of bounces.
- No boats, you can only throw to the basket (the defender will have to close the bounce).
- Before launching to the basket there is a self-pass. Fundamental to close the rebound.
- It is played by series in which one of the couple repeats role during several rounds. Then alternate.
Note: all variants are combinable.
